I just wanted to give a shot out to HPS [teachers] and staff. Most of what [my son] is seeing so far in [public] school he had already seen at HPS. As an ESL Certified Teacher from K-12 I can tell you that the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS or the state standards for Texas public schools ) seen at HPS are perfectly aligned with the tested subjects. Proof of this , [my son] is getting straight A’s in his new ISD school. I would never have moved him out of HPS if we still lived in Austin. Needless to say [I can stress] the importance of Jewish education and how he misses it. Thank you HPS teachers and most of all thank you Morah Rochel. -Former HPS Parent |
Thank you HPS for everything you have done for our family. We were tempted to leave Austin for a bigger Jewish community. But, even after visiting several places and seeing the schools, we are committed to staying here. The buildings might be bigger (not for long), and the community might be larger, but the schools were ultimately not better. It came down to, if we are going to move the school has to be better. Well...there is nothing better than HPS and the director, Rochel Levertov! -Michelle K. |
I just wanted to tell you how touched I was by C. teachers' commitment to their students. I came by this week to pick up C. and Irina told me she changed C.'s pants because he got dirty while playing outside. I am SO GRATEFUL the teachers did this and told me. A fear of mine has been that C. would get wet or dirty/uncomfortable while playing outside and then he'd have to nap while wet and dirty. I am so relieved his teachers are taking good care of him and making sure he is clean and comfortable. Thank you so much for working so hard to find these teachers! They are gems!

My child is thriving at HPS! She has gone from grunts and ahs to full sentences in less than two months! She loves school! Chatty Kathy over here is always talking about the things that she has learned. She is genuinely excited each morning and is increasingly difficult to tear away at the end of the day! I am continually impressed with the academics of not only the pre-school, but of the higher grades as well. The S.T.E.M. program is quite impressive. The teachers are first rate and the director is an inspiration. My next child will be there in a couple of years. I am already excited for her!

I have to recommend Hebrew prep school! Their curriculum is stellar, my then 2 year old came out with 3 year old level knowledge that he is just repeating in his new school in Florida. And you will NEVER have this problem [of having to assert your Jewish identity in a Christian environment that is claiming to be secular]. Your child will learn all about each Jewish holiday as well as Hebrew immersion and world knowledge all in a free-flow, play based environment. For all the schools they have in Florida, none touch Hebrew prep school. We were very sad to have to leave it and you will not be disappointed. -Judith E.
note: comment was in response to a mother complaining that her child was making Christmas decorations with bible verses at a secular daycare/school.
